Kyra Davies (fiddle/vocals) & Sean Smith (guitar/bouzouki/vocals) perform traditional music from Ireland, Scotland, Cape Breton, Galicia, Brittany, and New England. Kyra and Sean met at sessions in 2007, and talked about sitting down to play tunes together for ten years before they made it official in 2017. Since then, they have performed at the High Street Concert Series, Newton Porchfest, Newton Farmers’ Market, and various private functions in the Boston area. Kyra was a prizewinner at the 2004 New Boston Fiddle Contest and a soloist in a program of American fiddle tunes with the National Repertory Orchestra in Colorado. Sean has been playing folk music from Ireland, England, and Scotland for decades in addition to organizing behind the scenes at Club Passim and Boston Celtic Music Festival and writing for the Boston Irish Reporter. His guitar and bouzouki playing reflect contemporary styles and tastes that have emerged in the past few decades and taken traditional music in new and innovative directions. Kyra and Sean are constantly on the lookout for new tunes and fresh interpretations of old classics.
